A 26-year-old man jailed in a shooting death also has been charged in the wounding of a security guard in Town ‘N Country.

Ricardo Carmenate, 10106 Tallwood Court, Tampa, is charged with attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of the guard.

About 10 p.m. Nov. 24, Anmar Al Nueimy, 51, was walking his rounds as a guard at the Royal Oaks Apartments, 7308 Casitas Court, Tampa, when he confronted two men between two buildings, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

He told them they had to leave because they were trespassing and then one of the men fired several gunshots, striking Al Nueimy twice, deputies said. The men then fled the scene.

Information from witnesses and evidence from the scene led detectives to charge Carmenate in the case, the sheriff’s office said.

Carmenate was already in custody in the shooting death of Jose Javier Roque-Apaulaza, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. He was arrested Dec. 26 at home and booked into the Orient Road Jail without bond.

About 9:40 p.m. on Dec. 21, deputies received a call about a shooting at 8830 Beacon Lakes Drive in Tampa, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found Roque-Apaulaza shot dead in the parking lot.

Detectives determined that Roque-Apaulaza and Carmenate met in the parking for a drug deal, during which Carmenate shot Roque-Apaulaza multiple times in the upper body, according to the sheriff’s office.
