Sumter County man arrested for sexual battery on Pinellas girl

A 24-year-old man from Sumter County is under arrest in the alleged sexual battery of girl under the age of 12 in Pinellas County.

Detectives began their investigation of Charles Michael Willis II on Oct. 14 when the victim disclosed he had assaulted her between 2002 and 2003, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. She told detectives that the attacks occurred on multiple occasions at a private residence in Pinellas.

Detectives investigated the case through October and obtained a warrant for Willis on Oct. 28, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities contacted Willis on Tuesday in Sumter County and he denied the allegations, according to the sheriff’s office. Willis was arrested and is being held at the Sumter County Jail.

Willis, of 143 Southwest 59th Lane, #2, Bushnell, was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual battery on a child under 12, the sheriff’s office said.
