Schools in Lakeland have been alerted after a juvenile reported a man tried to lure him into his car today, Lakeland police said.

Police said the juvenile reported that about 6 a.m., while on his way to school, he was approached by the suspect in the 1500 block of East Main Street and asked for sexual favors in exchange for drugs. The juvenile also said the suspect offered to give him a ride to school.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 with a muscular to stocky build and a short afro. He may have a single gold tooth on the top and was wearing glasses. He was last seen wearing a purple shirt with black cargo pants.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white two door model, possibly an Altima or Infinity, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact School Resource Officer Walter Dennis at (863) 499-2900 or the Lakeland Police Department at (863) 834-6900.
