A 51-year-old St. Petersburg woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she sold drugs from her car while an 8-year-old girl was in the back seat.
St. Petersburg police said officers observed as Rachel Augustine Burton conducted a drug deal and followed her to Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits, 3201 Central Ave.
Officers approached her car and began a search, police said. During the search, Burton threw a container under the car that broke open, revealing packets of heroin and cocaine, police said.
Burton was arrested on charges of child abuse/endangerment, possession of heroin and cocaine with the intent to sell and resisting arrest without violence.
Burton, of 1422 13th St. S., was taken to the Pinellas County Jail and released on bail early Thursday.
A relative took custody of the girl, authorities said.
The relationship between Burton and the girl wasn't released by authorities.
