Clearwater police are searching for two suspects after a male victim was stabbed Wednesday afternoon after confronting the burglars in his apartment.

The victim was stabbed about 4 p.m. after he confronted the two suspects at Turnbury Apartments, 25350 U.S. 19 N. He was taken by helicopter to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and was released from the hospital Wednesday night.

When the victim arrived at his apartment and opened the door, he saw a suspect in a closet. The suspect, who was startled, turned around and stabbed the victim with a knife the suspect had taken from the home to cut wires on the electronic devices he was trying to steal, police said.

After the stabbing, the suspect ran from the scene and left the knife behind, police said.

The suspects had stacked the items they were going to steal by the front door, but they left without taking any items, police said.

Police are searching for the two suspects, who ran from the scene after the stabbing.

Police didn’t release a description of the suspects.
