A 46-year-old Lake Alfred man has been arrested on federal charges of possession of child pornography and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, Acting United States Attorney A. Lee Bentley III said today.
Eleftherious “Ted” Zachariadis was charged Monday, Bentley said.
According to the complaint, an undercover law enforcement officer downloaded child pornography files from an IP address connected to Zachariadis’ residence. A federal search warrant executed at the home uncovered more than 900 images and more than 200 videos depicting child pornography, officials said.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, Bentley said.
