Police: St. Pete mom drank in bar with son, 8, alone in car

A St. Petersburg woman faces DUI and child neglect charges after police say she left her 8-year-old son in the car for four hours early this morning while she drank in a bar and struck two parked cars.

Police, originally called to what was thought to be a disturbance at the Tryst Lounge at 240 Beach Drive NE around 3 a.m., found a crowd gathered around Krastina Yankova Gesheva, 36, who was in a 2010 silver Mercedes in front of the bar.

Witnesses told police that Gesheva had struck two parked cars as she was backing out, and was attempting to leave when police arrived.

According to witnesses, Gesheva had been seen in the bar for about four hours while her son was sitting alone in the car, periodically coming into the bar to look for his mother.

Gesheva’s blood-alcohol content was 0.177 percent, and she was taken into custody, police say.

Police arranged for a guardian to take custody of the boy.
