Police seeking man who tried to rob Tampa auto parts store

Tampa police are seeking the public’s help to locate a man who tried to rob an auto parts store this week.

At 8:26 p.m. Monday, a man walked into Advanced Auto Parts, 8623 N. Florida Ave., and pointed a gun at the clerk behind the counter. As he demanded money, a second employee ran out the back door, triggering an alarm. The suspect then ran away without any money.

The suspect is described as a black man, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall, heavy set. He was wearing dark tan pants rolled up with white cuffs, black boots, a black hoodie with dark gloves and green ski mask with only the top portion of his face open.

The robbery was captured on surveillance video.
