A man remains in serious condition after being shot this afternoon during a card game at a neighborhood park, the Tampa Police Department said.
A second victim was treated at a local hospital and released, police said.
The suspect in the 1:37 p.m. shooting at the Alfred “Al” Barnes Jr. Park, 2902 N. 32nd St., Tampa, is still being sought, police said.
The two victims were playing cards with friends when at least one suspect drove up to the park and confronted the group.
There was a confrontation in a covered picnic area on East 21st Avenue. The suspect fired several shots, police said.
One victim ran from the scene and collapsed in the parking lot. The other victim suffered a superficial wound to the head. He ran across the street to his home after he was shot, police said.
Police said the shooting wasn’t random, and there’s no threat to the neighborhood.
A nearby surveillance camera captured images of the suspect’s vehicle. Police officers are looking for a late 2000s silver Nissan.
