Police searching for suspect, motive in Tampa homicide

Published:

Tampa police continue to investigate the homicide of a man who was found dead in his home Sunday morning.

The landlady found the body of Juan Ordoņez after she visited his home, 1317 Arch St., Tampa.

Ordoņez, 50, suffered upper body trauma, said Janelle McGregor, a Tampa police spokeswoman.

Tampa police detectives have been working the case since they arrived at the scene at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Detectives are trying to find who was responsible and the motive, McGregor said.

They have interviewed neighbors and are "processing a large amount of forensic evidence that was collected at the scene," McGregor said.

There is no description at this time of a suspect or suspects, McGregor said.

"Our main priority is finding out who was involved in Ordoņez's violent attack," McGregor said.

It wasn't unusual that the landlady stopped by the home on Sunday morning because she visited him on a regular basis, McGregor said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at (800) 873-8477.
