A couple used a young boy to steal items from two Clearwater Beach businesses Sunday afternoon and took one of the victims’ debit cards to a nearby store, police said.

Police said the man, woman and boy, who appeared to be about 10 years old, stole items from Ron Jon Surf Shop, 377 Mandalay Blvd., about 5:30 p.m. Shortly after, a surveillance camera captured the boy entering Hooters, 381 Mandalay Blvd., and removing purses from a back room at the restaurant.

An hour later, someone tried to use the stolen debit card at a Target on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard in Clearwater, police said.

Investigators need the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects.

The man was described by police as 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches and 190 pounds with a shaved head and gray shorts. At the surf shop, he put on a black Ron Jon T-shirt and left the store wearing it, police said.

The woman was described by police as 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 7 inches and 200 pounds with brown hair. She was wearing a bright green shirt and gray or brown capris.

The boy was wearing a black T-shirt and gray shorts.

Police said the trio had a baby stroller and could be seen in surveillance images stashing stolen items in it.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at (727) 562-4242.
