A Lakeland man has been charged with two counts of possessing child pornography.

Jay Bloodworth, 28, volunteers with the youth group at Plant City’s Church on the Rock, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said. The youth group has 30-40 minors, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies said church employees found images on a shared computer and then contacted police in Plant City. Child pornography images were found on the church computer in a folder named “Jay,” the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies said they also seized computer devices from Bloodworth’s home.

Bloodworth confessed to having child pornography and to owning the files on the church computer, Polk deputies said. Deputies said the suspect admitted to viewing child pornography for a year and a half, having viewed it every day for the two weeks before the sheriff’s office interviewed him.

Bloodworth used social media to find people interested in trading child pornography, deputies said.

The investigation is ongoing.
