A Pinellas Park man was sentenced to four years in prison today for causing severe injuries to his wife’s dog in 2012, the Pinellas Park Police Department said.
Todd Walker was convicted after a three-day trial, police said.
According to the original charging document, in May and June 2012, because of Walker, the dog, 5-month-old Beau, suffered two broken bones in his left lower leg, a broken bone in the left upper leg, and a small skull fracture.
Walker was seen drop-kicking Beau about 5 to 6 feet across the living room, where the dog hit the arm of a lounge chair, and was also seen throwing Beau onto a couch and hitting the dog in the face and in the area of its hind legs with his fist, the document said.
The defendant also on at least two occasions threw water bottles at the dog, the document said.
As a result of the injuries, the dog’s left leg had to be amputated, the document said.
