Two people are dead at a home in Clearwater after a deputy was involved in a shooting there, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to 2915 Pine Cone Circle in the Eastwood Pines Townhomes subdivision after the sheriff’s office received a call from a man there who said he’d stabbed his mother to death, the sheriff’s office said.

After deputies knocked on the door, they heard yelling from inside the home before Justin Sean Tucker, 36, came down the stairs toward Corporal Pete Doyle with an unidentified object in his hand, the sheriff’s office said.

Doyle repeatedly ordered the man to stop, but the man continued toward him, deputies said. Doyle fired several shots and the man died at the scene.

Kathryn Marie Clark, 67, was found dead inside the home. Deputies said she was stabbed, and a butcher knife was found next to her body.

Both Clark and Tucker lived at the home, deputies said.

Doyle was not injured in the incident. He has been with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office since 2006.
