An Apollo Beach mother of two died Tuesday afternoon after she crashed into a dump truck in Riverview, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Stephanie Camille Drury, 28, died at the scene of the crash at Symmes Road and Ivy Flower Loop, the sheriff’s office said.

Her two children - one was 3 years old; the other 5 days old - were in the car with her but weren’t visibly injured, investigators said. The children were taken to Tampa General Hospital for observation.

At about 1 p.m., Drury was heading west on Symmes Road at about 45 mph when she crossed the double yellow line and struck a westbound 2005 Freightliner dump truck pulling a trailer carrying a front end loader, the sheriff’s office said.

James McCarty, 42, of Tampa, was driving the dump truck. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Symmes Road at Ivy Flower Loop will be closed for several hours for crews to clean the diesel spill.
