One dead after overnight shooting in St. Petersburg

A St. Petersburg man is dead after an overnight shooting during an attempted robbery and drug deal in St. Petersburg, authorities said.

Police responded around 2 a.m. after shots were fired inside a home at 4313 21st St. N.

Police say a 21-year-old man person was discovered shot outside the home and two people were shot inside the home.

Daniel Brown III, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. A 22-year-old man inside the home had a gunshot wound to the lower body.

The two injured men are hospitalized in stable condition, police say.

According to police, the man who was killed was in the process of robbing the other two victims during a drug transaction when the 21-year-old, who lives at the home, pulled a gun and the two exchanged shots.

Guns and drugs were found at the scene, police say.

A man who accompanied Brown to the residence fled the scene after the shooting.

The victims’ identities have yet to be released.
