Florida Highway Patrol troopers helped clear up traffic on northbound Interstate 75 at the Gibsonton Drive on-ramp on Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle spilled a number of roofing nails following a three-vehicle traffic crash.

By Wednesday night, all three lanes had been cleared and vehicles were heading northbound without any delays.

That wasn’t the case earlier during the evening rush hour.

The crash on the Gibsonton Drive on ramp caused one vehicle to spill roofing nails, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

All northbound lanes of I-75 at the on ramp had to be closed as crews worked to pick up the nails. Traffic was backed up in both directions. Southbound I-75 was backed up from Gibsonton Drive to State Road 60 because of motorists looking at the nail spill, the sheriff’s office said.

FHP didn’t give details on the crash that caused the spill.
