A motorcyclist was killed this afternoon in a traffic crash in Plant City, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to a report, at 3:55 p.m., A 2006 GMC Envoy driven by Julia Lopez, 20, of Plant City was eastbound on U.S. 92 west of Robinson Orange Park. Meanwhile, a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 53-year-old man was westbound on U.S. 92.
Lopez failed to see slowing traffic ahead and tried to steer left to avoid a collision, entering the westbound lane and nearly colliding head-on with the motorcycle, FHP said
The motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to South Florida Baptist Hospital, where he later died, according to FHP.
Charges against Lopez are pending, FHP said.
