More security equals fewer arrests during Gasparilla

In terms of arrests, this year's Gasparilla festival was more orderly than previous years but it still generated a mountain of trash.

Crews were out early Sunday picking up discarded beer cans, water bottles, plastic cups and beads.

Authorities arrested 42 people, including three for felonies, during Saturday's events. That's down roughly a third from last year and far below 2011, when nearly 350 people were arrested.

Officials brought in more security in the wake of the Boston Bombings. More than 1,200 police were on duty and cameras along the route helped them keep an eye on revelers.
