Tampa police took a man into custody Monday night after a shooting at an apartment that officers responded to regarding a welfare check call.

No one was injured in the shooting that occurred at Carriage Place Apartments, 10144 Arbor Run Drive in the Arbor Greene area of New Tampa.

The man, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken into custody for evaluation and charges are pending, police said.

When officers responded to the apartments to check on a resident, the person inside the apartment fired several shots in the apartment. The shots weren’t directed at officers, police said.

The resident refused to leave the apartment. Tampa police Tactical Response Team responded to the scene to assist the patrol officers. The Tactical Response Team entered the home and took the man into custody, police said.
