Man dressed in painter’s outfit robs Brandon bank

Published:

A man dressed in full painter’s garb walked into a Brandon bank, implied to a teller he had a bomb and stole cash Tuesday afternoon, deputies said.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance images of the bank robbery, hoping the public can provide clues to locate a suspect.

The man arrived at the PNC branch at 821 E. Bloomingdale Ave. on a light blue mountain bike about 5 p.m., deputies said. He was dressed as a painter, including a mask, goggles, hood and dark gloves, and carrying a white bucket.

He confronted a teller and implied he had a bomb, the sheriff’s office said. After receiving an undisclosed amount of currency, he fled on the bicycle to an unknown tupe of vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies described the man as white, 26 to 35 years old, and 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall. He had brown hair and a bleached-blond goatee with dark roots.

Anyone with any information was asked to call the sheriff’s office at (813) 247-8200. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), go online to www.crimestopperstb.com or text “CSTB” plus the tip CRIMES (274637).
