Two tree trimmers were shocked this afternoon in unincorporated Largo when their ladder struck a power line, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Steven Hansen, 32, suffered life-threatening injuries, and his co-worker Lance Russel, 50, suffered non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said. Both men were taken to a local hospital.

Hansen and Russel, who work for Happy Palms Tree Service, were working in the area of 1031 Tallowood Drive at around 3:30 p.m.

They were on the ground when they moved a ladder that struck a power line and caused both men to be shocked, the sheriff’s office said.

The injuries both men sustained appear to be accidental.

The case remains under investigation.
