Knife-wielding suspect sought in 7-11 robbery

A knife-wielding suspect is wanted by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in a robbery at a 7-11 store in notth Tampa.

About 5 a.m. Monday, the suspect jumped the counter at the 7-11 at 8002 N. 56th St. while holding a knife, the sheriff’s office said. The female clerk was able to run outside, but the male clerk fell to the floor.

The suspect grabbed him by the collar and ordered him back to the cash register where he obtained cash and a carton of cigarettes, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspect fled by running south from the store.

A surveillance camera got video of the robbery.

The suspect is described as about 5-foot-8, weighing about 170 pounds, and was wearing a black hoodie, a blue bandana over his face, blue or purple gloves, long black cargo shorts, black athletic shoes with a white logo and possibly a green belt, the sheriff’s office said.

A vehicle that was speeding away from the scene and might be related to the case is a described as a red, late 1980s through early 1900s, four-door Dodge Intrepid with tinted windows, according to the sheriff’s office.
