Hillsborough County deputies are asking for the public’s help to locate the driver in a hit-and-run crash that left a Ruskin bicyclist dead Friday night.

According to a report, Antonio Leon, 56, was riding a blue and silver bicycle westbound on 21st Avenue near his home in the 600 block of 21st Avenue Southeast when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle traveling west at approximately 45 to 55 mph. The vehicle left the scene.

An intake airbox from a 2003-05 Saturn Ion was left behind at the crash site. A witness described the vehicle as green in color. Deputies think it has front end damage with blue or silver paint possibly transfer from the bicycle.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 247-8200 . Those wishing to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward, can call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-8477.
