Fuel efficiency, or rather inefficiency, helped Hernando deputies catch a man this morning.

About 9:26 a.m., Hernando County deputies attempted to stop a red GMC Sierra that was being driven by Jefferson Patterson, 43, who is currently out on bond for drug-related charges and is known to have a revoked Florida driver’s license. Patterson fled from deputies, who chose not to pursue Patterson.

A short time later, Patterson was located by Hernando deputies in an area off of Blanton Road in Pasco County after he ran out of gas.

Patterson was arrested and charged with felony fleeing and eluding, driving while license is suspended or revoked - habitual, reckless driving, and driving without valid registration.
