A 28-year-old man was fatally shot early Tuesday at a Spring Hill home, deputies said.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Mitchell Ingle.

Justin Artt, 33, has been identified as the shooter and the sheriff’s office is working with the State Attorney’s office on the investigation, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the shooting took place shortly after midnight at 5337 Freeport Drive.

All parties involved were interviewed by detectives, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting was an isolated incident and the public was not in danger.

No other details about the shooting were released.

In 2011, Artt faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Hernando. Investigators at the time said Artt was intoxicated on Halloween night and fired a gun in the direction of another pedestrian while walking around his neighborhood.

Records show that the case was transferred to another court and closed, although details were unavailable.

Artt has a record in Hernando dating to 1999 with previous convictions for driving under the influence, driving on a suspended or revoked license and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, records show.

In 2012, Ingle was found guilty in Hernando of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon; he was found guilty this year of possession of a controlled substance.
