Fatal shooting follows fight at Hollywood Nites club

TAMPA - A fight inside a nightclub spilled into the parking lot and resulted in a shooting that left one man dead and another injured, police said.

The shooting took place at Hollywood Nites, 3005 N. Howard Ave., about 2:10 a.m. Saturday.

Wayne Thomas Lanier, 21, of 929 E. Henderson Ave., No. 343C, Tampa, was shot and taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he died, police said.

Omar R. Bacon, 26, of 701 Providence Trace Circle, No. 202, Brandon, was treated and released at St. Joseph's Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to police, a fight developed inside the club that was broken up by security personnel, who made patrons exit the building. Once outside, shots were fired and Lanier and Bacon were struck.

Police do not have a suspect and the investigation is ongoing.
