A driver was killed Wednesday afternoon in Pasco County when his pickup smashed into a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to a report, at 5:23 p.m., a 2004 Toyota Tundra driven by Justin Mark Bittle, 29, of Wesley Chapel was westbound on State Road 52 approaching the 19800 block of the roadway. The Toyota passed another vehicle, but when the truck re-entered the westbound lane Bittle lost control of the vehicle, which traveled onto the north shoulder of the road. The truck spun, crossing over the east and westbound lanes of SR-52 and crashed into a tree on the south shoulder, FHP said.
The impact caused the front of the truck to separate from the passenger compartment, ejecting Bittle, who died at the scene, FHP said.
