Plant City man, landlord shot at trailer park

A Plant City man and his landlord were hospitalized in a double-shooting early Friday morning at a trailer park.

Deputies, responding to a call of shots fired at 2709 Chorba Drive, found two men with gunshot wounds about 3:30 a.m.

Deputies said three men were drinking and doing drugs at a club and were intoxicated when they returned to the home and thought they heard noises outside.

One of the men went outside and fired shots into the ground to scare a would-be intruder, but the gun jammed. The man runs back into the trailer, and another man attempted to fix it, deputies said.

While the men were in the house, deputies said, the landlord of the trailer park approached the trailer to investigate, and one of the men heard the noise and fired shots from inside.

The landlord returned fire, deputies said.

The man inside the trailer was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, deputies said.

The landlord was transported to South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City with a leg wound.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
