A 31-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly attacking his ex-roommate with a baseball bat this afternoon, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Just before 12:30 p.m., the 30-year-old victim arrived at 8105 Tanglewood Lane to retrieve some personal items. The victim, who moved out of the home last week, still had a key to the home, deputies said.

After entering the home, the victim was met by Anthony Dominic Catalano, who was carrying a wooden baseball bat. The two men engaged in a verbal dispute, and Catalano hit the victim in the head with the bat, deputies said.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim with life-threatening injuries and Catalano waiting in the home. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in critical condition.

Deputies said Catalano admitted to the attack during an interview. He was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and transported to Orient Road Jail.
