Hillsborough County deputies are searching for a man they say stole a credit card at gunpoint and is seen on surveillance video after he used it to buy barbecue at University Square Mall.

Deputies say the 24-year-old female victim was unloading groceries from her vehicle at her Thonotosassa residence Saturday around 6:30 p.m. when the suspect grabbed her from behind.

The suspect placed a semi-automatic handgun to her head and demanded money. He removed a credit card from the victim’s left front pocket and fled in a dark-colored SUV, deputies say.

About an hour later, the suspect — along with three other men — are seen on surveillance video with food that was purchased with the stolen credit card at Perry’s Barbecue in University Square Mall.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 247-8200. To be eligible for a reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at www.crimestopperstb.com or text “CSTB plus your tip” to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637).
