Hillsborough County deputies are seeking a suspect seen on surveillance video getting out of a car, with a child inside, and stealing stereo equipment from another car in Brandon.

Deputies say the suspect drove into the Walmart parking lot, at 11110 Causeway Blvd., on Wednesday around 2:30 p.m. and parked next to the another car.

The suspect, in a faded red, late 1990s-early 2000s Honda Civic, broke the driver’s window of the other vehicle and removed the dash-mounted stereo and speaker box from the rear cargo area, deputies say.

While this was occurring, a toddler can be seen climbing in the front seats of the suspect’s car.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 8, 18-28 years old, with an average build. He has thick dark hair and was last seen wearing a tan T-shirt and black shorts, and has possible cuts on hands and/or arms.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200. To be eligible for a reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online on the Crime Stoppers website, or text “CSTB plus your tip” to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637).
