BROOKSVILLE – A New Jersey man was arrested early Tuesday after breaking a window outside Rebar at 10123 Broad St.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas Roof, 36, was kicked out of the bar after the bartender saw him “inappropriately adding flavoring to other patrons’ drinks.”

Once outside, Roof started yelling profanities, and the bartender locked the door to keep him out, deputies said. Roof then broke a window using beer bottles and fled on foot, an arrest affidavit shows.

The affidavit states he was “verbally aggressive” while being transported to the jail, and a deputy needed additional help getting Roof out of his patrol car.

Roof, of Jersey City, was being held on $500 bond.
