Deputies: Man in tow truck steals from Tampa business

Deputies are asking for the public’s help to find a man who drove a tow truck behind a Tampa business last week and stole scrap metal and a pallet jack.

The theft took place at 3:42 a.m. Tuesday at the Kitchen & Bath Factory, 5518 W. Linebaugh Ave, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

The man, wearing a blue and orange jumpsuit, drove a black-and-silver tow truck with “PTI” written on the door, detectives said. After stopping behind the building, he loaded about $100 worth of scrap metal and the $300 jack into the bed of truck, detectives said.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction.

No other description of the suspect was given by the sheriff’s office.

A surveillance image of the truck was released by detectives.
