Deputies ID Tampa man wanted for stealing car, ramming cruisers

Hillsborough County deputies have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man who struck deputies’ vehicles while driving away in a stolen vehicle last week.

Deputies say Walleed Q. Tuffaha, 21, 4315 S. Renellie Dr., was driving a four-door Mercury on Thursday just after 3 p.m. when deputies spotted the stolen car pulling into the parking lot of the Farm Store, 2202 E. 131st Ave. Two deputies pulled in after the stolen vehicle and approached it.

Deputy Brian Dawsy ordered passenger Khalil Ali, 20, with the same listed address, out of the vehicle as Deputy Alex Moon ordered the driver to show his hands. Ali exited the car and began fighting with Dawsy, who broke away and used his Taser on the suspect.

Ali was able to remove the prongs of the Taser and fled on foot, shouting at Tuffaha to leave. Tuffaha took off, striking both deputies’ vehicles as he fled. southbound on 22nd Street toward University Mall.

Moon and Dawsy chased Ali over two fences and saw him discard marijuana that was packaged for distribution, deputies said. After a short chase, Ali was taken into custody.

Ali was charged with resisting with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer and possession with intent to deliver.
