Deputies: Fleeing Tampa felon slips in puddle

Published:

A false step led to a felon carrying a loaded gun to get arrested after he ran from a deputy, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said today.

According to deputies, Malcolm J. Green, 18, 10407 N. Lantana Ave., was riding a bicycle near East 127th Avenue and North 15th Street in North Tampa about 7 p.m. Saturday when he was stopped by the deputy. He gave the deputy a false name, and when the deputy walked back to confront him about it, Green ran, deputies said.

He slipped and fell while running through a puddle, however, and a loaded .357 Smith & Wesson snub-nose revolver popped out of his waistband, deputies said. The deputy secured the weapon and arrested Green.

Green was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of cocaine with intent to sell. He remains at Orient Road Jail without bail.
