A 26-year-old transient has been charged with first degree murder in the death of an older Dunedin man he met online, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

David G. Elsey, 50, was found dead with blunt, upper-body trauma at 1658 Summit Way in Dunedin, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies went to the home at around 5 a.m. this morning to conduct a welfare check after they were alerted by Clearwater police, who received “concerning information” during a routine traffic stop overnight, the Pinellas sheriff’s office said.

Arthur Michael DeCarvalho, 26, who has no home address, was arrested and charged with first degree murder, the sheriff’s office said.

Elsey and DeCarvalho met online recently, deputies said, but no other details were released.
