A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a gun was fired at a Bradenton middle school Friday afternoon, putting the school on lockdown, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
The boy, whose name has not been released because of his age, has been charged with trespassing on school grounds in connection with the incident at Johnson Middle School, 2121 26th Ave. E. He is not believed to have fired the gun, detectives said.
Detectives have also developed a person of interest regarding the second person thought to be involved in the incident, which took place about 3:05 p.m. According to witnesses, two suspects were on school property when one of them fired a gun in the air. The two fled the scene – one on a bicycle and the other on foot.
No one was injured, but the school was put on lockdown for a time.
The suspects were described as two black males, one wearing all black and one wearing all white.
