27 arrested in Polk undercover drug investigation

A three-month undercover investigation targeting street sales of narcotics has resulted in the arrests of 27 people on Friday on various drug charges in Lakeland, Bartow and Lakes Wales.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies, responding to tips and interviews with residents and suspects, developed information that led to the identification of people involved in the purchase and sale of illegal drugs.

Search warrants were conducted at 1125 Mercury Drive East in Lakeland; 401 Domaris Ave., Lake Wales; and 3642 Swindell Road, Lakeland. The searches yielded about two pounds of marijuana, 63.8 grams of hydrocodone, 3.7 grams of oxycodone, four handguns – one of which was determined to be stolen from Hillsborough County – and $11,079 in currency derived from drug proceeds.

“By arresting both the buyers and sellers, we send a clear message – we will not tolerate illegal drug activity, nor the crime associated with illegal drugs,” said Sheriff Grady Judd.

Among those arrested were:

* A 17-year-old Lakeland juvenile male who is charged with solicit to purchase cannabis.

* Curtis Ingram, 26, of 601 N. Lake Avenue, Lakeland, who is charged with selling cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, selling marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for drug sales, and possession of paraphernalia.

* Barbette Dias, 48, of 3013 Reiter Drive, Auburndale, is charged with trafficking in oxycodone, selling oxycodone, possession of paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, possession of hydrocodone, possession of alprazolam, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.

* Steven Hall, 53, of 3013 Reiter Drive, Auburndale, is charged with conspiracy to traffic oxycodone, maintaining a vehicle for drug trafficking, driving with a suspended/revoked license, possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and possession of paraphernalia.

* Eddie Keys, 24, of 218 Eagle Lake Loop Road, Eagle Lake, is charged with conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, armed trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for drug trafficking, possession of paraphernalia, and contributing to the dependency of a minor.

* Brian Demarcus West, 24, 603 Emma St., Lakeland, is charged with trafficking hydrocodone; selling hydrocodone within 1,000 feet of church; selling marijuana within 1,000 feet of a church; possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a church; conspiracy to sell cocaine; selling a counterfeit substance; resisting officer without violence; and possession of paraphernalia.

* Shaquille Robinson, 21, of 250 43rd St., Davenport, is charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of church; possession of cocaine; possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of church; possession of marijuana; and possession of paraphernalia.

* Ricardo Martindale, 29, of 3642 Swindell Road, Lakeland, is charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of church; possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana; possession of a firearm during commission of a felony; maintaining dwelling for drug sales; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of a stolen firearm.

* William Dunlape, 35, of 401 Domaris Ave., #15, Lake Wales, is charged with Armed Trafficking of hydrocodone, possession of oxycodone, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, owning a structure/residence to sell drugs, possession of a prescription without prescription, and possession of paraphernalia.
