With time away from baseball during this off-season, Tampa Bay Rays celebrity third-baseman Evan Longoria on Friday night helped open the Ducky's Sports Lounge on Kennedy Boulevard that he's backing along with several other Tampa-area business people.

Located at 1719 W. Kennedy Blvd., the sports bar features comfort food and four lanes of mini “Duckpin” bowling that's smaller, easier, and does not require special shoes.

The bar will have a “soft opening” to the public Saturday with a limited menu that will expand as the restaurant gets going.

Longoria is not the only one from the Rays to get into the restaurant business; manager Joe Maddon is helping launch a new Italian restaurant called Ava not too far away on South Howard Avenue.
