Blue Pearl veterinary hospital chain Chief Executive Officer Darryl Shaw has acquired the historic Don Vicente de Ybor Historic Inn property in Ybor City for $2.2 million, according to Hillsborough County clerk records.

Shaw made the acquisition through a company he controls called Ybor Varadero LLC. The 16-room Don Vicente has stood at 1915 Avenida Republica De Cuba in Ybor City since 1929, and it’s long been a favorite location for weddings and special events.

The Northern Trust Co. financial firm provided a mortgage on the property for $1.76 million on June 27, according to clerk records. Messages left with Shaw’s office have not yet been returned. The hotel property, not counting any nearby parking, last sold in 1998 to Julius Jacob Shriver for $475,000.

Shaw has been active in Ybor City property recently. County records show that same company controlled by Shaw paid $3.5 million for a block-sized set of parcels bordered by 21st and 22nd streets, south of Palm Avenue, this past May.
