City officials today will present the next six historical figures to be honored on Tampa’s Riverwalk.
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, along with the Friends of the Riverwalk, will announce the second group of honorees during a ceremony at 11 a.m.
The Riverwalk will eventually honor more than 30 historical figures and events that have shaped Tampa’s history with monuments that will be spread across the length of the trail.
The 2012 honorees: Florida’s first people, Clara Frye, Henry B. Plant, Vicente Martinez-Ybor, James McKay, and Eleanor McWilliams Chamberlain.
The public also is encouraged to nominate significant people and events for future consideration.
