The rain is moving in from the Gulf of Mexico, and coastal areas are seeing rain early this morning ahead of the cold front, which arrives this afternoon, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
The rain will move inland today. creating pockets of rain later this morning and more widespread showers throughout the day.
After a humid start, temperatures will only reach 85 under mostly cloudy skies and a 70 percent chance of scattered showers.
Once the front passes tonight and the rain eases, lows will quickly drop to the mid-60s.
Skies will clear overnight, setting the stage for a pleasant Friday, with highs only reaching the low-80s with pleasant breezes creating a cool feel.
