The Tampa Bay area will see another hot, mostly sunny day today, while the region may be spared from Tropical Storm Karen.
After a morning with mostly filtered sunshine, highs will reach the upper-80s with a 30 percent chance of afternoon storms mostly to the south, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
Meanwhile, the area of low pressure in the Caribbean formed into Tropical Storm Karen at 8 a.m., according to the National Hurricane Center.
The storm is expected to move due north, with a cold front shifting it slightly to the east, taking it across the Florida panhandle early next week.
That track would mean the Tampa area would be on the outskirts of the storm, bringing increased rain chances into the start of the work week.
