Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for two suspects after a security guard was shot Sunday night at a Town ’N County apartment complex.

Deputies said the shooting occurred about 10 p.m. at the Royal Oaks Apartments, 7308 Casitas Court, Tampa.

The guard was hospitalized with gunshot wounds to the torso and hand, deputies said. He had surgery Monday morning and was in stable condition, said Debbie Carter, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman. The man was expected to make a full recovery.

Deputies said the guard was walking his round when he was confronted by two men between two buildings.

After telling the men they had to leave because they were trespassing, one of the men fired several gunshots, striking the guard twice, deputies said.

The men then fled the scene, deputies said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (813) 247-8200.
