A Tampa armed robbery suspect was taken into custody early this morning after abandoning his van on I-275 and attempting to flee on foot.

Police say they spotted Darron Hannah, 27, fleeing in a Ford van near Himes Avenue and Gandy Boulevard after he threatened a second robbery victim with a handgun.

Police attempted to stop the van, which they suspect was stolen, but Hannah fled and a pursuit ensued.

Police say the pursuit ended when Hannah was quickly caught after he abandoned the van and tried to flee on foot on southbound I-275 near North Boulevard Homes.

No injuries were reported, and some of the money stolen from the victims was recovered, police say.

Jail records show Hannah has several previous arrests, including drug possession and car theft.

An investigation is ongoing.
