A Tampa man died Thursday night, hours after he placed a 911 call to report he had been shot.

According to police, 23-year-old David Christopher Harris called 911 from 4215 E. Columbus Dr. just before midnight, about the same time police received a call about shots being shot near his residence at 3810 E. Lindell Ave.

When police arrived to Harris’ call, they determined his Chevrolet Impala was possibly involved in the incident at East Lindell Avenue, based on witness statements.

Harris was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died.
