A motorcyclist injured Friday in Safety Harbor when he crashed into a car has died, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Joshua Santostefano, 24, of Oldsmar, died just before 7:30 a.m. this morning, the sheriff’s office said. After Friday’s accident, he was transported by emergency helicopter to a local hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

Santostefano was heading south on Bayshore Boulevard in a 1993 Kawasaki motorcycle at around 5:20 p.m. Joshua Miller, 28, of Safety Harbor, was heading north on Bayshore Boulevard in a 2004 Volkswagen Passat, the sheriff’s office said.

When Miller approached Seventh Street, he began to make a left turn. Santostefano’s motorcycle struck the passenger side of Miller’s car, the sheriff’s office said.

Santostefano, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was ejected from the motorcycle. Miller wasn’t injured, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office previously said investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol or speed contributed to the crash.
