The co-owner of a Plant City meat shop has been arrested on sex charges involving an underaged girl, Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies said.

Christopher Shane Smith, 36, was arrested March 8 on two counts of lewd or lascivious battery and released the next day from Hillsborough County jail after posting $15,000 bail.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Larry McKinnon said the victim was a girl under the age of 16 and both offenses took place last month at Smith’s Lutz home. He said he couldn’t release more information because of an ongoing investigation.

Smith and the Hungry Gator Meat Market in Plant City were profiled in December 2012 in the Plant City Courier, a weekly paper owned by the company that publishes The Tampa Tribune.
