Early winds off the Gulf of Mexico will continue to create hot, steamy August conditions around the Tampa Bay area.
The onshore winds will generate early isolated coastal showers that will push inland during the afternoon, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
Temperatures are starting off in the mid- to upper-70s, and will climb to the low-90s with the heat index pushing 100.
Winds, however, will shift from the southeast later this afternoon, pushing those storms back toward the west coast tonight.
Those winds will reduce the chance of early-morning showers, with the rain starting inland in the afternoon and drifting west toward the coast.
